Transferring Graphic Files
According to University Information Technology Services (2014), "If you transferred your new graphics from one type of system to another, the contents of the files might have been mangled in transit. Most file transfer programs have at least two modes. When you move a graphics file from one system to another, the correct transfer format is binary, raw, or raw data” (para. 5).
While transferring graphical images from one computer to the other, image files can become corrupt when issues like incompatible graphic types, erroneous file extensions, bad write to disk, uncorrected transmission errors, buggy file writers, and faulty processing occurs.
Many image and graphic files contain different internal variations depending upon the revision level of the format, and the data type storing the files. File formats vary from most popular forms e.g., TIFF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, TGA, etc., making it easier to determine the type of data stored in the file by inspecting the header information. Other file types however make it more arduous to determine the data stored on the file like Amiga, XMB, and IFF. These file types use different file extensions and can be limited in storing only one type of data.
Standardization
Graphic and image formats provide a standardized method for transferring and storing data called pixels. Image standardization can help in normalizing images and graphic pixels,
