Characteristics of Life of a Stream
While on the nature walk, a stream was observed. The beginning of the stream was very rapid, because of this there was not a lot of vegetation and there was no sign of minnows or insects. The rocks under the water were mostly bare with very little or no algae visible. When overturning the rocks in this beginning part of the stream, there was nothing underneath the rock except mud and smaller, tiny rocks and minerals. Looking at a section of the stream father down, the water was moving very slowly and still in some areas. Contrary to the beginning of the stream, there was a lot of vegetation and algae growing on the rocks. There were spiders on the surface of the water, gliding across the stream. Every once in a while, a school of minnows would swim by and quickly go under the rocks. The minnows were always traveling together; a single minnow was never seen swimming alone. Across the stream the water was not constant a speed. The middle tended to be the fasted. This was observed to be true because the leaves that had fallen into the stream were moving faster down the stream than the leaves closer to the edge. Some of the characteristics of life present in this environment were the use of energy, the response to the environment and adaptability, and the reproduction of living things. The algae and vegetation used the energy from the sun to grow. Also the minnows
In the world today, it is estimated that there are 1.5 to 1.8 million discovered and formally named species. Although no one is willing to place their career on the total species number, there has been a formula use to calculate what this number is and there speculations range from 3.6 million to upwards of 100 million species. (Wilson, E.O., 2002) From early on, when the first scientists started classifying species, there were only two main classifications. The two kingdoms of living…

Benefits of Diversity Did you know that diversity allows for more peace amongst a society? Imagine if lower class communities were mixed with different cultures such as Asian, African American, and Caucasian. A diverse community could accomplish more together. Diversity can be beneficial by helping people learn about different cultures outside of their own, reducing racial tensions, and also allows for a more knowledgeable society. Many people of today are not well rounded. They have not traveled…
Essay Asses the view that the growth of family diversity has led to the decline of traditional nuclear family. Family diversity relates to the types of families created by people’s decisions and choices. There are many sociological perspectives for and against the growth of family diversity. New Right being one of the main sociological perspectives have a political view on society of values, they are against the growth of family diversity because they believe in the traditional family rules. The…
family diversity. Family life in the UK is more diverse today than in any time in the past. The society described by functionalists and dominated by the nuclear family is a thing of the past. McRae says that Britain is a more complex society now than in the past with great diversity. While some sociologists such as Rapoport and Rapoport argue that this diversity should be valued, others such as those on the New Right blame increasing family diversity on the crisis in society and family life. Some…

(Josh Greenberg, 2004) “Workplace diversity refers to the variety of differences between people in an organization” and according to (business dictionary) “discrimination is the bias or prejudice resulting in denial of…
It’s fascinating that diversity whether people like it or not is part of an everyday life that people don’t really notice is going on; it is seen in communities that usually consist of people who decide to live with other people who are not of the same race, but there are also people who decide not to live in a diverse community because of the high population of a racial group that they prefer not to be among. Being surrounded by a racial group, that people may not feel comfortable, to live around…
Organization's Value Diversity is not a liberal ideological movement, to be supported or resisted. Rather, it is a reality in today’s business environment. Managed well, diversity provides benefits that increase success. However, when ignored or mismanaged, it brings challenges and obstacles that can hinder the organization’s ability to succeed. The right question then is not, do we have to deal with diversity, but rather, how do we manage it to reap its potential benefits? At its core, diversity is about inclusion…
