The argument over abortion has been a subject for dispute for a long time. The arguments span over many issues. All these have been, and are currently being debated. But the issue that is of most concern is the question: is abortion moral? According to “What is abortion,” approximately forty to forty-five million women faced with an unplanned pregnancy decides to have an abortion every year. Women believe there are many reasons why, such as having to raise the child, rape or not enough money. In many cases, women may feel that abortion will save them from a lifetime. They think it will stop them from doing things, in other words from freedom. Abortion shouldn’t be allowed, and some important reasons why women shouldn’t abort is, that it can cause possible medical complication, also is not the baby’s fault; every child deserves life, plus adoption can be a better choice. “What is abortion” also points out that ninety-one percent of women are mentally damaged after abortion Post – Abortion Syndrome happens frequently after an abortion and women suffer a range of mental and psychological problems. There may include recurrent dreams of the abortion experience, avoidance of emotional attachment, relationship problems, sleep disturbances, guilt about surviving, memory impairment, hostile outbursts, suicidal thoughts or actions. These problems may occur days to years later. An abortion can result in more medical complication later in life. Numerous things can happens such as bladder injury; this can also cause peritonitis (an inflamed, infected lining of the abdomen) with all of its pain, Peralta 2 dangers and necessary reparative surgery. Also future pregnancies will be less likely to have a normal delivery. “When I returned home I had very heavy bleeding and severe cramps for two days. At my after-school job at a dime store, I went to the restroom. It was then I found my baby on my sanitary pad. Even after ten years, it’s still hard for me to think about it” (Kathy Barlett). When a woman has an abortion, she might feel depressed and guilty, afterward thinking of what the future could have been like with her new baby, or having the feeling in the back of her head reminding her that she killed her child. Knowing you killed your child is heartbreaking and you wish you could bring them back. No one should have to die for someone else’s mistake. Another reason why women should not abort is because is not the baby’s fault. In my opinion when life is created someone else can’t take that life away, no civilized society permits one human to intentionally harm or take the life of another human without punishment, and abortion it’s no different. Also in the instance of rape, proper medical care can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant. There are a variety of drug referred to as the “morning-after pill”(ehow health), a woman is given large doses of estrogen within seventy-two hours of unprotected sexual intercourse to kill the sperm and another one again twelve hours later. Abortion punishes the unborn child who committed no crime; instead, it is the person responsible for it who should be punished. Most women say; it is my body and I have a right to choose”. This is wrong on two levels- it is not the mother’s body that is being destroyed and she does not have a right to kill her child. Abortion does not kill the mother – it kills her child. Is not the baby’s fault for their parents not being responsible. Judson Berger stated in “foxnews.com” that New York City Mayor
