What is abortion? Abortion is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy. Now, what does wrong stand for? Wrong is not in accordance with what is morally right or not correct in action, method, etc. What do these two words have in common? Wrong simply describes what abortion really is in just one word. Abortion is the leading cause of death in the world. We have lost more Americans through abortion than we have in all our twelve wars combined. This is sixty-four times more. The world kills more people through abortion than all of the deaths combined. This is twenty-two times as many. This concludes that, abortion is simply wrong. It is not morally right because all life is sacred, a fetus can feel, and abortion is simply just murder! All life is sacred. Every single person in this world, even an unborn fetus, is precious. Should we allow discrimination against entire classes of living humans?! Shouldn’t we grant equal rights and protection to all living things? Never once, in modern times has the country granted to one citizen the absolute legal right to have another killed in order to solve their own personal, social or economic problem. Pope John Paul once said, “All human life from the moment of contraception and through all subsequent stages is sacred, because human life is created in the image and likeness of God. Nothing surpasses the greatness or dignity of a human. If a person’s right to life is violated at the moment in which he is first conceived in his mother’s womb, an indirect blow is struck also at the whole moral order”. Paul is absolutely correct; no one has the right to be taking away such precious life. No law in the world allows one person to take the life of another and abortion is quite equivalent to that. There are more sensible options to abortion, such as adoption. People who do not want to bring up a child can give it up for adoption. At least that way, the child gets the chance to live and also find a loving home. There is never an unwanted child in this world and every child is as precious! A fetus is an unborn baby. It is an unborn baby that has a sense of touch. Even though it may not be fully formed, a fetus in the second trimester is still able to feel pain. Why do you think a baby starts kicking its mom’s stomach whenever the father makes stupid noises at it? When they tell someone that abortion is a matter just between a woman and her doctor, they’re forgetting someone else; the child! The one main thing that a fetus has to start with is a heartbeat.
