Unit 23
Task 2.3
Plan play based activities and experiences based on assessment to support development and learning. All of us learn throughout our lives. It starts from the day we are born. Early childhood is the most important phase of a child's overall development, the first five years of a child's life are fundamentally important It is now also recognized that the early years especially the first three years of life are the most important for learning. That's when the foundations for the future are laid. Foundation that shapes children's future health, happiness, growth, development and learning achievement at school, in the family and community, and in life in general I know that children grow and develop in similar patterns, but each child develops at her or his own pace. Within the Rainbow Room I care passionately about my role, I believe that all children should be able to play and learn in a fun warm caring environment with adults who understand and care about them and their needs. I am a highly experienced qualified staff member who will work with parents/carers to provide their child with the best quality care and start to life. The Rainbow Room is equipped with age appropriate furniture equipment and toys' ensuring a high standard of care is provided. I set up activities in the rainbow room daily, I do planning sheets weekly that help support children’s development and learning, following the guidelines of the EYFS, giving children play experiences through exploring and investigating the world around them.
Types of activities that I use in the baby room; examples
Sensory play, using sensory bottles filled with a variety of materials, rice, oats and water with added colour or objects inside.
Water play, in a tray with jugs, funnels and water
