Understand Child and Young Person Development.
1. Physical Development

0-3 months
Babies that are born more than three weeks early are premature. They need more time to develop like normal babies. Babies do things without thinking and that they have different reflexes. When the baby reaches 1 month the babies life changes, they get used to normal settling patterns. Babies sleep a lot but later on can stay awake some of the time. They cry to communicate and show their needs to parents. When the baby is 3 months the baby changes in height and weight, they cry less and parents know what they cry for and which cry it is.
3-6 months
They will be able to move their head around to see what is happening around them, be quite alert and learn a lot of new skills. When they are playing and enjoying it, you will be able to tell from facial expressions that they make like smiling. They can sit up by themselves without support and they can move one piece of object from one hand to another.
6-9 months
Babies will start to crawl and physical development can be recognisable. They will be able to move around and explore new things. They will spend a lot of time sitting around and playing.
9-12 months
At this age they will be able to be more mobile and will be able to crawl a lot faster. They will be able to hold on to furniture so that can stand up and move around. Babbling sounds begin and they will show feelings by squealing with pleasure and crying.
2-4 years
At the age of two some children will get out of nappies and start potty training. They will from using single word to putting them together as a phrase, they will understand the use of conversation and begin to copy carers. They will start to climb onto things or move things around like on the table or the chair.

4-7 years
Enjoy playing games with other children or by themselves. Use hands to do things like gluing and sticking. Some children have interest in other activities like swimming, dance or sports. Children will follow simple instruction and rules when they play a game or do an activity. When playing football they will learn how to control the ball by kicking or passing it to one another.
7-12 years
At this age children are well co-ordinated in both and small movements. Children still grow in height but the main changes are is the way they think. The way they play a game, some will follow some rules and some will make them up themselves. Their drawing and writing will become neater.
12-16 years
They can write, read and draw accurately with making a lot of mistakes. They have grown in height and weight. Girls at this stage will have started their periods; they do different activities with other young people. Boys may start puberty at this age.
16-19 years
At this age young people move closer to each other and reach adulthood. Physically around 15-16 year old girls will have finished becoming a woman; most boys will start puberty at the age of 14 and will take 3 years to complete.

Social. Emotional and Behavioural Development
0-3 months
When babies are born they are born with many reflexes such as grasp reflexes, babies will automatically put their fingers around an object that has touched the palm of their hand. When they are 1 month old they cry to communicate to show their need sto parents who may now understand what each cry means. At 3 months they might smile ofte and that they will recognise their parents voice.
3-6 months
When a baby is having a bath they will enjoy it through facial expressions. Parents will understand which cry means what. Concentrates on mothers face while feeding.
6-9 months
When they play they will smile with delight with their primary carers. They also stay near their parents. Babies start to babble and may get excited when they hear the words like drink etc. they also start to know who they enjoy being with, at the age of 8 months they will start to cry if they are left with strangers and
