My reflection paper is classified along the following lines.
The above model draws form ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR, Understanding and Managing Life at Work, EIGHTH EDITION by Gary Johns and Alan Saks and has been trifurcated stage wise in relation to the game, Forbidden Island.
The pre- game scenario began with FORMING. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t have a clue as regards “Forbidden Island” and wasn’t too familiar with many board or card games. My initial We also switched roles during the second game and were able to suggest moves due to special moves exercised by each one due to their previous “avatar”. The hotel group was functioning cohesively through organized discussion and smartly breaking down our challenge into land legislation history, related legislation, possible loopholes in the act and remedies. We were all on the same page after a detailed analysis. Eventually, we went to court and got a stay on the government order and everyone complied with this decision and did not pay the tax. In a months’ time the tax was revised downwards to a 70 percent escalation over the previous tax. All group members paid the tax within 15 days of the new legislation as previously decided in our meeting.

ADJOURNING and TAKE AWAY: After the game we left with an inexplicable sense of connection to one another and with a shared feeling of joy among our group. The once disconnected team had found common ground and identified and recognized and built on each other’s strengths and worked around weaknesses. This was clearly reflected in the reduced time taken to complete the second game and the collaborative culture established in our group after putting aside initial differences. I have realized that the decision making skills and their use is directly proportional to ones success
