I believe that learning is happening all the time and is connected through all developmental domains. These include, physical, social/emotional, cognitive and communication. The goal as a educator for me to make their ongoing learning experiences safe, positive, and fun, nurturing the whole child as I attempt to guide them into the next stage of development with confidence in themselves and excitement for continued learning.
I also believe that learning is an experiential activity[1], and that each interaction that the child has with their environment, their family, teachers and relatives provides some learning to the child. Therefore the culture, community and social context in which learning is taking place become the most important aspect to consider when planning a child’s development.
It is also important to understand that children’s backgrounds, experiences and the way they relate to the culture around them and the dominant culture are unique. I believe that educators need to identify the best way to leverage these differences into growth opportunities rather than attempt to eliminate these differences through uniformity of training and experience. My goal as an educator in this context is to help children succeed, not despite the difference of their backgrounds, but because of the advantage that it brings.
I also believe in the importance of grooming children into global citizens that are able to operate effectively in an increasingly multicultural world. The foundations of this approach lie in mutual respect, a non-prejudicial approach to cultures and practices and being open to learning throughout ones life.
The environment plays a major role in the success of an early childhood program. When children feel confident in their environment they are willing to try things, knowing that their efforts are valued. I would like to offer a warm and positive environment to children that utilize the benefits of outdoor as well as indoor environments. Appropriate resources will be incorporated to help not only physical development but also cognitive skills, reading and writing abilities, problem solving skills and foster communication and expression amongst children.
The childcare center plays a critical role in the community by partnering with parents and relatives in the development of a child. The childcare center facilitates a child’s journey to the next stage of their development, while also enabling their parents to participate in the workforce. This dual role of partnership with the parents and the child makes the Child Care Center an important part of the young families that it works with.
I see the relationship between the child, teacher and family as multi-directional and collaborative. It is important to understand and recognize the influence of family, and maintain open lines of communication allowing a free
Walter Kaufmann once said, “philosophy means liberation from the - routine, soaring above the well known, seeing it in new perspectives, arousing wonder and the wish to fly.” I think this quote means that philosophy is the path that leads us to examine and change our lives for the better. Philosophy all began with the classic greeks when they started studying human behavior. They divided the art of philosophy into three main categories, which are metaphysics, logic, and ethics. Metaphysics is the…
ELIZABETH NORDSTROM MY PHILOSOPHY January 20, 2015 PROFESSOR KENNETH CRAIG I have always been very understanding of peoples beliefs. I understand that the world is made up of many opposing ideas and that no one person is fully correct. There are so many different groups and parties in today’s world that it is hard to know for sure which one to side with, but I believe that every single person is entitled to their own opinion and belief, and I also feel as though that has a lot to do with the way…
Personal Philosophy of Communication Kyle Crum Christopher Newport University Everyone on this Earth lives in the same world, however everyone experiences his or her own reality. The inhabitants of different cultures or perspectives view the world through different lenses. I have had the opportunity to experience different cultures first-hand by living overseas for three years. Being in a military family has forced me into cultures that are unknown to me and forced me to communicate…
Personal Leadership Philosophy Well it’s definitely been a very interesting class, and I have learned much about leadership. As always I believe the best teacher is experience, so that will ultimately be the true test as to what I have learned. For the record, I will be referencing the bible for the majority of my paper because in the words of the late apostle Paul who was quoted as saying, “To live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippines 1:21). You know my background and some of what my…
Adrianna Aguilar April 23, 2013 Throughout the class we discussed several important leadership concepts, but the three concepts that I believe are most important and will guide my own judgment and decisions as I move forward in my career are Gender begins and continues at home, Gender schemas and how they affect us, and the different Leadership Styles and how people define leadership. These three concepts struck a chord with me as we were learning and discussing them throughout the course. I plan…
Unlike many mathematicians, I live in an irrational world. I feel that my life is defined by a sure amount of irrationalities that are too frequent. Making it through a day requires challenging problem cracking, and this constant exposure has made me much better at adapting to them than previously. You can relate this to one of my heavier extracurricular activities, Thespians. When working on a scene for a performance there are many conflicts, whether it be inconsistency with behavior, awkward pacing…

dictionary defines philosophy as the study of ideas about knowledge, truth, the nature and meaning of life, etc. Although philosophy has a relative simple definition it is anything but simple. Since beginning of time there has been philosophy and every person whether they know what philosophy is or not have their own personal philosophy. Personal Philosophy of Leadership Being a leader is more than simply holding a leadership position or having the ability to lead. Everyone is capable of being a leader, but not everyone exercises his or her leadership abilities. Each person’s idea of leadership is different. My idea of leadership has developed over time, and being a member of the President’s Leadership Class has helped me develop my philosophy of leadership further than what it was two months ago. My personal philosophy of leadership…
