The article is pointing out how many smart devices are bought and put taken home by many people and that this could be dangerous. How? Well many people fear installing a camera in their home because many people hack into electronics these days and can collect personal data. The FTC showed a report and what it was saying or showing was that companies make connected devices, anywhere from thermostats to health monitors to technology in cars. These devices should limit the data they collect and how long they hold on to it. Another suggestion was whatever data it was it shouldn’t just be laying around and should discard it when they are done, this was a good idea because it would discourage thieves from inside and outside of the organization.
