Instructions: This is a poem about our relationship with the land and about the sacrifices we are willing to make to ensure the people we care about survive. Here, we see two incidents in the life of a Chippewa woman. Read the following poem called “The Forsaken,” by the Canadian poet, Duncan Campbell Scott. Make notes if you wish. Go back to the poem and look for evidence to support your claims. Tip: follow the punctuation to get a sense of each image or idea.
