An Interview with Hon. Amador Antique
According to Hon. Amador Antique, it was 1978 when he came to Bayawan. During this time, Cabcabon was planted with coconuts, sugarcanes, corns and at the same time a pasture of carabaos. He added that Brgy. Banga got its name from a “banga” plant which belongs to the family of palm tree. This certain plant inhabited the land area of the place and because it’s known to be an “itchy blooded tree” the people decided to deteriorate it.
Hon. Antique became a councilor to this place in the year 1986 and in the year 2008 he was elected as the barangay chairman of Banga. He stresses that there was a slow progress in the area before the era. The development started by the time Bayawan is converted into a City. The construction of a concrete feeder road was established due to the era and the state of being a City of Bayawan.
Based on his statement it was the first Brgy. Chairman in the person of Hon. Ceriaco Galon who donated the lot for the school named, Banga Elementary School today. This has been his greatest contribution to his constituents as chairman of the said barangay in the year 1940. Hon.
