Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is to investigate the effect of cooperative learning in reading comprehension. Many research papers show that students use cooperative learning can get both three advantages and disadvantages. The participants in the research paper were 214 college students in Taiwan. They answered the questions and an open-end question on the questionnaire according to their experiences. Most students consider that after using cooperative learning on reading comprehension could help them decrease their anxiety on reading comprehension and get more realization about the content of the articles

1. Introduction

This section is divided into two parts. One is background. The other one is purpose. In the paragraph of background, this part writes about the situation of the cooperative learning used in the EFL class. According to Jalilifar’s (2010) study, it showed that it can help learners to increase their reading and writing abilities. And in this research paper that researchers will provide what the advantages and disadvantages are when teachers and students use the cooperative learning in reading comprehension. In the paragraph of purpose is writing about that students will face others problems when they use the cooperative learning on reading comprehension. So, the purpose of this research paper is to discuss four questions and find the answers. After students used cooperative learning, they could face both three advantages: improving reading comprehension, increasing motivation and self-esteem, and solving problem with group and disadvantages: time-wasting, misfit all learners, and more pressure for low-achievers.
