I worked at a vet clinic for almost a year in 2008. I was a vet assistant. My job duties were checking in animals, pulling up their shot records, pulling up shots for the vet to give to animals. Take care of animals, if they are to be boarded or just need a checkup. I assist the vets if they need me. I also stocked shelves and gave the animals baths and treatments if needed. The organizational model which best describes the organization which I worked for is the divisional structure. A divisional structure is people or group who provides the same services, work within the same processes, serve similar patients, and are located in the same area or region. I do not work at the vet clinic anymore, but when I did they shared knowledge by having employee meetings before work hours or after work hours, rarely would we have to attend a meeting on the weekends. As a group it was our responsibility to share ideas and concerns with one another and to voice our opinion. The managers involved myself and the employees in formulating solutions to the problems by making us speak on our part about concerns or disagreements we had with one another or with the job or services. Then with that we had to as a group come together as a whole to solve the problems as respectable adults. A lot of us had to sacrifice things and even changed the way we worked just to compromise with each other. The techniques that have been most effective for sharing information and ideas at the vet clinic, we would have a box where if we had any ideas or concerns we would write them down and put them in the box that was in the manager’s office. Some of us would talk to other employees about problems and try to come up with a solution without having to involve the manager. We also had a dry erase board that we would write dog the animals name, information, age, and weight so when it came to surgery we would know what animal goes first and what needed to be done. In case of an emergency, some after hours, we would take those animals first depending on situation. Practice makes perfect, I gained experience by watching other employees work and learning from them. If I ever had a question, or concern, or wasn’t too sure about something I would ask the managers to get the right information and gain knowledge and experience. Some techniques that proved to be ineffective were the scheduling. A lot of people wanted off or not working the weekends. I personally liked working on the weekends. I was by myself most
