Handling Unhealthy Employees
Workplace safety deals with the physical protection of people from injury or illness while on the job. Nearly every employee in the nation comes under OSHA's jurisdiction with some exceptions such as miners, some transportation workers, many public employees, and the self-employed. Employee health is the state of physical and psychological wellness in the workforce (Lussier and Hendon, 2013). Bill’s organization is facing some organizational culture changes due to the downsizing of the industry. This external factor has engulfed the internal working environment by promoting more competitiveness and struggle in maintaining high reputation as news reporters like in better years.
Change in Policy
Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 states that each employer shall furnish a place of employment that is free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious harm to employees (Lussier and Hendon, 2013). Therefore, Diane is within the limits of the law. She is providing a workplace support network by enforcing healthier eating habits , prohibiting smoking which is dangerous for one’s health, promoting physical and mental wellness through training programs and a health assessment twice yearly is feasible in maintaining proper lifestyle Employees will be more focused and engaged in the workplace. She is ensuring that the quality of work being produced is excellent and employees’ ability to perform extremely well is not limited by poor working environment. Most importantly, it is a legal requirement for the HR managers to “diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate” the employees who experience stress at workplace.

Other Methods Use to Deal with Unsafe Work Environment
Effective stress management solutions have help in instilling Corporate Social Responsibility among the employees and management. Diane could have explored other options such as promoting better time management and adapting relaxation techniques as a part of daily activities in the office. The use of schedule and deadlines that are more realistic is appropriate in managing time. Employees should be encouraged to relax by meditation. Employees can achieve such by enriching their minds with happy thoughts with no distractions in sight. Furthermore, employees should be encourage to take lunch breaks and move away from their computers to relax their muscles.
