March 28, 2013 Discovering Myself Spending time with my family and capturing those moments are the passions of my life carrying me to places like dreams do that help me discover who I am. Without these unique qualities, life has no purpose and my passions fade away. The one thing life gives us that we will always be able to have in our lives is family-a blessing that people should not take for granted. Spending time with your family is one way that you can build relationships and that is what I have been taught. My family and I are very close to each other making us all brothers and sisters; therefore, we always have get-togethers at each others’ houses and sometimes go to the beach for walks or picnics. Other times, on weekends we hang out and sometimes invite my uncle, who brings back many old memories to my family. In the summer, my family and I plan two weeks of vacation, and travel to random places that we have not been before, bonding us together. For example, we have gone to: Universal Studios, Wild Animal Park, and Hearst’s Castle. Since my cousins and I have close relationships, we have been through many of the same obstacles and events together. Although they tease me and annoy me all the time, we have an unconditional love for each other. Spending time with my family gives me a sense of acceptance so that I can rely on them during times of hardship. Another one of my passions is taking pictures. Taking pictures has been my favorite hobby as a child. It lets me express my personality and be who I am. Photography has taught me some important aspects: each picture is unique in its own way and the quality of the picture is more important than its quantity. Maddux EC 1001-052 ESSAY #2: DISCOVERING A SENSE OF YOUR OWN SPIRITUALITY 11/6/2014 Discovering a sense of your Spirituality Spirituality is a very big and important part of my life. Spirituality in my eyes is one of the biggest characteristics of a person that can really tell you a lot about who they are and how they will behave in the world that we live in today. In this essay I am going to talk about a few different topics that really stand out to me when I ask myself where I truly stand within…
When I was younger, still in elementary school, I was captivated by science. I used to want to be an archeologist. I loved discovering new and exciting things. When I was little, instead of watching cartoons, I watched every documentary I could get my hands on. It didn't matter what the documentary was about — earthquakes, volcanoes, global warming, space — I wanted to discover it all. I was extremely passionate, especially about issues pertaining to the environment. One day in fifth grade during…
ready. Would any soon to be fifteen year old be ready? I was just starting high school, just now discovering myself. You see in the past few years I had learned the true meaning of the word bully and in a failed attempt to escape them I had become distant and my clothes darkened. I thought I could also discover myself in the process. My extremist parents on the other hand thought I was discovering Satanism. You do the math. One of my few real escapes however was music. My flute is my best friend…
and background. Conducting the interview with this in mind will make me seem like a good long-term investment. Also, I’ll be ready to talk in depth about the industry, the organization, and the position I am applying for. The second way I can help myself be prepared is by practicing the job interview with a peer. Not only will this give me a way to structure my preparation, but it will also help me get comfortable with giving answers, telling anecdotes, and using appropriate terminology. The last…
came home tearing up because of getting a terrible mark on a test. And For the rest of the day, I felt the energy inside of me have almost drained away completely. I could not gain confidence in myself again no matter how my parents comforted me, and truthfully, I felt very left down and disappointed by myself. Suddenly, I remember the quote I discovered last week, and took it out. My eyes skipped to the last sentence. “Don’t spend it by dwelling on unhappy things.” Reading this made me feel slightly…
was here that I experienced many revelations about myself, and developed a strong connection with and love for nature. The almost gravitational pull it had on me caused me to find myself spending most of my days hiking and exploring its paths and caves. At the same time, I was also discovering hidden beauties that I wanted to share with others. “How could I help people appreciate what most don’t even know exist in their own city?” I would ask myself. In order to capture what I witnessed, I started…
its beauty, and eases the struggles that may consume one’s daily life. Coping with my internal self by expressing myself through art and writing have always come easy for me. Pottery, for me, is a whole other experience. Before I learned the techniques, I used to become overwhelmed and stressed with my work. However, this year I found a topic of interest that helps me reflect upon myself. Vintage Hawaiian pottery will be the focus of my concentration for this semester. Mastering this art can be achieved…
weeks of procrastination my parents managed to convince me to read the novel Hatchet by Gary Paulson. I slowly began to notice a change in myself, not in one area, but in many. As a child I was very uninterested in action and adventure and was contempt with staying stationary and watching television to pass the time away. I had never attempted to immerse myself in a book, so trying to for the first time I was very skeptical. I began to read with the sole purpose of getting through the task I was assigned…
