Where me and my husband and community live in a suburb in Lake City Florida. (Five Points.) About15 years ago was swamp land. Now the community that lives here has problems due to flooding. This is caused by unlevel land. Even though the “Columbia County Road Department” brought several dump truck loads of top soil it is still unlevel in the area. So when it rains heavy roads, and yards are flooded.

When Tropical Storm Debbi hit in June, 2012 On “ NBC.COM reported that Debbie set record For most named storm so early in the Atlantic Hurricane Season”

The whole community was flooded. Are neighbors and my family had to park are vehicles at a closed S&S convent store next to the main highway due to all the water over the lime top roads. Where my husband and I live water was all across are yard up to the top of our stairs to the front deck. Some of our neighbors had water coming into their homes. We even had fish swimming on the road and yards Because of a couple of ponds in the woods across the road over flowed.

After Debbie was over we all in the community filed a petition to the “Columbia County Council” to have the roads fixed. They addressed this in their next council meeting. It was approved.” The Columbia County Road Department” cleaned the ditches and dug new ones and put culverts in across driveways and paved the main road coming into the community and took heavy equipment and pitched the roads that were still lime top roads where the water ran into the woods. Which it did help some but it still floods in yards when we have a heavy rain. Because the ditches need to be cleaned out so the water can run instead
