Description of work environment
The business work environment of a banking branch, is customers come into the branches to make a deposit or withdrawal. Customers come into the branch to discuss their account issues or open a new account, there are other issues that are addressed in the banking industry.
In the table below, categorize different leadership approaches that could be used in the work environment you have described. Provide different suggestions for each of the four approaches to leadership.
Directive approach Supportive approach
The directive approach in the banking industry is that a manager will step forward and guide their employees on how to hit their goals that are required of them. The manager is going to train their employees so that the employees will know what is expected of them. They also expect their employees to hit their goals but they are going to be showed the way, the manager is going to take the time to make sure that each employee understands their job. The supportive approach in the banking industry is that a manager will become best friends with their employees. By becoming best friends with their employees this will allow the employees to walk all over the management team. The employees will not be able to achieve their goals, because they may just fool around in the bank rather than looking for customers to have interactions with. These types of managers do not hit their goals because the employees feel that they do not need to work as hard because they are always going to have their job because the manager is their best friend.
Participative approach Achievement-oriented approach
The participative approach in the banking industry is taking the directive approach but allowing employees to give feedback so that everyone can be involved with the bank. When a manager takes the approach of participating they are going to listen to their employees on what they have to say and also act on it.
