I’ve Got the Music in Me

I thought that my change of friends was my turning point, but I was wrong. The one

event that made me who I am today was joining show choir, and meeting my favorite choir teacher ever. I still remember it as if it were yesterday. I walked into the choir room eager to start show choir for the first time. Everyone was huddled around someone, so I walked over to see what was going on. As I walked closer I realized that they were shaking hands with someone, that person was Mr. Delfs. This would be my first year in show choir, before I just had done crew. I was not really involved in the choir department here for about 2 years, so I was surprised to hear that I had been placed into Chamber Choir. Mr. Delfs taught about a lot of different kinds of music, from Madrigals to Acapella. One of my most favorite songs we did in there were
Acapella pieces. One such as the song we did at the swing & sing assembly, called Africa. It is just a fun song and it just sounds beautiful in 4 part harmony. I think he made a good choice finding it. He helped me develop the voice inside of me that I never thought was there, or that I never cared to look for. Heck, at the beginning of junior year I was a low bass, now I am a tenor.
That is a very drastic change, if you didn’t know. Being in show choir itself broke me out of my shell. At the beginning I was not really fun to be around, I was really annoying, I might have been a little bit of a bully to some kids I knew would not fight back, and I was kind of creepy.

Now after my senior year of show choir I am happy to say that even though I may still a little annoying and creepy, I now have lifelong friends from choir that I will
