A Shepherd Song
“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.”
1).The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23 (New International Version)
Why do we need a shepherd song? Webster New World Dictionary defines a psalm as a sacred song or poem of praise, especially one in the Book of Psalms in the Bible.
Webster New World Dictionary defines a Shepherd as: 1). somebody who looks after sheep. 2) Somebody who is responsible for caring for and guiding a group of people, especially a Christian minister.
Here Jesus is talking to the Leaders of Israel. 27) “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside is full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. Mt 23:27-28
“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”Jn 10:1-5 NIV.

pastoral innocence? William Blake’s representation of pastoral innocence in his ‘Songs of Innocence’ intertwine the voice of children and nature. He described the “little ones leaped and shouted and laughed”, showing children as the essence of innocence, and the fact that “all the hills echoed” in ‘Nurse’s Song’, shows how the pastoral life, symbolic of a simplistic and unsophisticated life of the rustics in Blake’s songs, links nature to a child’s happiness, and therefore reflects pastoral innocence…

ODE The word ode comes from a Greek word for "song," and like a song, and belongs to the long and varied tradition of lyric poetry. An ode is made up of verses and can have a complex meter. It's usually addressed to someone or something, or it represents the poet's musings on that person or thing, as Keats' ode tells us what he thought as he looked at the Grecian urn. There are three typical types of odes: the Pindaric, Horatian, and Irregular. The Pindaric is named for the ancient Greek poet Pindar…
Passionate Shepherd to His love” tries to come across as loving and compassionate; however, he is basically telling the Nymph that he does not see her as anything but a passing fancy. He never mentions marriage or even a long-term relationship, but he wants her to come lay with him in a “bed of roses.” Although, he made it sound appealing, the Nymph saw his ulterior motives. She turns his pastoral poem against him by using Sir Walter Raleigh to reply with “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd” in order…
27 March 2015 Innocence and Experience Romanticism is a cultural movement that began in the eighteenth century in Europe. This movement was a reaction to the Industrial Revolution, which occurred during the same era. Many of his poems have aspects of innocence, one of which is “The Lamb.” On the contrary, “The Tyger,” focuses on experience with the realities of…
1. Song of creation- Psalm 104 is a song of creation by how it describes the astounding creation of God. All of creation was made in wisdom, by God and this psalm clearly tells us of that. Occasions of well-being- Psalm 121 is a Psalm of well being by the way the writer is so content with his life. There is nothing for him to complain about, and only reminders that He is always there keeping our lives in order. Hymns of praise- Psalm 100 is a hymn of praise by the way the author is praising the…
favorite parts of the concert were the Evocations of Nature, the song was The Heavens Are Telling by Franz Joseph Haydn. There were three soloists the program said, but they all sang together in a trio. The song reminded me of a song that I would sing in church because it was out of Psalm. Another song I liked was The King of Love My Shepherd Is, It said it was an Irish Tune by Mack Wilberg. I didn’t think it sounded like a song that would come out of…
