Learning Outcome 1: Know the different types of schools in the education sector:
1.1 Identify the main types of state and independent schools.
Community Schools:
These are run and owned by the local authority (Education and library Board in North Ireland) school support through looking to make links with the local community ,and by providing support services.
The school may develop the use of the school facilities by local groups such as adult education or childcare classes.
Foundation and trust school:
These are run by their own governing body which determines the admission policy in consultation with the local education authority.
A trust school is although a type of foundation school ,will form a charitable trust with an outside partner such as a business . this type of school will have to buy in any services.
The governing body in consultation with parents are make a diction to `become a trust school.
Voluntary schools:
These come under two types –voluntary aided and Voluntary controlled.
Voluntary –aided schools will mainly be religious or Faith schools.
They are run by their own governing body the same way as foundation school.
They are funded partly by the governing body .although the land and buildings are normally owned by a religious organisation or charity.
Also they are funded by charity and partly by the local education authority which provides support services.
Voluntary –controlled schools are similar types of schools to voluntary aided schools,
They are run funded by the local authority ,which also employs the staff and provides support services.
The charity owned the land and buildings.which is often a religious organisation.
Specialist schools;
They will receive additional government funding for doing this .
These are usually secondary schools which can apply for specialist status to develop one or two subject specialism .
Around 92 per cent of secondary school in England have specialist status.
Independent schools:
These are a part from the local education authority ,they do not have to follow the national curriculum and the head teacher the governors decided on the admission policy because just over half of independent schools have charitable status.
They are funded by fees paid by parents and also income from investments, gifts and charitable endowments.

If the child has any siblings at the school.
If t the child has a disability which makes traveling
