Legalizing Gay Marriage in Texas The supporters of SameSex Marriage have made major strides in a very short amount of time. Less than ten years ago, Gay and Lesbian couples could not get legally married anywhere in the United States of America. Now there is seventeen states that recognize homosexual marriage: California, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, Delaware,
Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine,
Maryland, and Washington. With so much progress being made you can tell that individuals are now recognizing that it is morally wrong to not uphold homosexual relationships to the dignity, respect, and status that is given to heterosexual couples by our society. One state in particular does not recognize homosexual marriage as right, this state is Texas. Being a born and raised
Texan myself, I believe that Gay Marriage should be legal in Texas because marriage is a right that every individual should receive, also because Gay and Lesbian couples, not having the right to get married, is not only morally wrong but it is constitutionally wrong, and SameSex couples do not hurt or endanger children, they are just as capable as a heterosexual couple to raise and neuter a child.
→ Are these your three points? I was once told a saying by good friends of mine named Shelly Bailes and Ellen Pontac.
These two women happen to be the first lesbian couple to ever get married in California. They were explaining to me why their marriage shouldn’t be considered wrong and how it should be respected by others. Since I was younger they decided to use a reference that would make more sense to me. Ellen started by telling me a little story along the lines of “On a hot and sunny day a young woman went to subway to get her favorite sandwich. The man in front of her ordered a different sub. She got angry because he didn’t get the same sub as her, even though it didn’t affect her in any way.” I got very confused and asked “Why would the women be mad? she wasn’t eating the sandwich.” Then Shelly chimed in saying “That’s how straight people sound when they say Gay Marriage affects them, because it honestly doesn’t” In that moment I realized that even if i wanted to, I would have no reason to be against gay marriage. It doesn’t harm me.
Gay and lesbian couples not being allowed to get married does not benefit me as a straight person in any way it only harms them.“
There are 1,138 benefits, rights and protections provided on the basis of marital status in Federal law.” (Human Rights Campaign). The Defense of

partner, to file wrongful death accusations, or to automatically inherit anything that they shared if they do not have a will. But since heterosexual marriage is considered a union to Federal Law they receive all those benefits that were not entitled to the homosexual couple in the example above. 1,138 benefits should not be taken away from two individuals just because they happen to be the same sex.
There are 7.046 billion people roaming the earth today. Out of the 7.046 billion people there are 71,165 people that are not treated equally. I strongly believe in gay marriage, i feel like if you truly love someone whether they are a male or female, it shouldn't matter! I think that gay marriage should be legal because it is uncivilized. our civil rights and the constitution give us many liberties. one of our civil liberties are the pursuit of happiness, which gay people are not able to chase. They can’t legally be with the true person they love and it violates their freedom. In Alaska, Nevada, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Nebraska, Missouri…
Oualid Jniyah K.Wiley ENC 091 December 5, 2014 Marriage Equality Too many people argue that same sex marriage should not be legalized because it offends religions (Christianity), it turns a Moral Wrong into a Civil Right, and it violates the natural law, even some politicians have always opposed same-sex marriage, according to Senator Michele Bachmann, on the gay community and same-sex marriage, “This is a very serious matter, because it is our children who are the prize for this community…
Gay Marriage Among the United States Marriage is a commitment between two people to become a family, the formal act recognized by law. When it applies to people of the same gender, however things can get complicated. Civil rights and the Constitution give American citizens many liberties. One of those civil liberties is the “pursuit of happiness,” which homosexual people are not allowed to chase at least not where marriage is concerned. They cannot be married to the people they love and this violates…
Same-Sex Marriage in Texas As the years go by, many states from the United States of America are legalizing same-sex marriage. Texas is back in the dust by still not allowing same-sex couples the ability to get married. I cannot think of many reasons as to why marriage is not open for every kind of two people who love each other, should be illegal. The representatives of Texas are stubborn with their old fashioned ways; therefore, sadly same-sex marriage will not be legal in any time soon in…
who a person is with, they should be treated fairly and with respect. However, there are prejudice people out there who think differently. That is the issue we are facing today with gay marriage. The problem is they’re just too blind to see that gay people are just like us. They are human. I am studying same-sex marriage while using the history, legal situations, biological research, and Christian scriptural context relating to same-sex marriage as a lens to find out why Americans oppose same sex marriage. In doing so I will help my reader better understand why same-sex marriage should be legal. The saying, “never judge a book by its cover” is a saying that most mothers have used. Therefore when it comes to the topic of same-sex marriage, my mother always judged the book by its cover…
Introduction The Controversy “Same-sex marriage permits couples of the same gender to enter legally-recognized marriages and provides them with the same legal rights as couples in heterosexual relationships” (Same-Sex Marriage). “Opponents of same-sex marriage argue that the institution of marriage should apply to only unions between one man and one woman. Allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry, they say, undermines the institution of marriage” (Same-Sex Marriage). Where the Issue Stands Today…
much debate on whether same sex couples are fit to be parents. As if their sexual preference is the sole factor in play on parenting. Opponents of gay parenting and adoption often frame their criticisms in terms of what's best for the child without presenting any resounding evidence supporting this claim. Below I hope to dispel the many myths surrounding gay and lesbian parenting and also showcase numerous cases where same sex parents raise successful and well-rounded children. “For the most part…
