DNase Test

This test is used to detect if the bacteria contains any deoxyribonuclease activity. Because no color change was observed from blue to clear my unknown bacteria displayed a negative result.

Blood agar plate

This test is used to detect the hemolytic activity in the bacteria. A darkish green color on the media around the bacteria would represent incomplete hemolysis. A transparent media around the bacteria colony represents complete lysis of the red blood cells. If no change is observed around the bacteria colony then the bacteria is non-hemolytic. For my

I believe that the sample I used during my PCR analysis was not cultured correctly because when the DNA sequence analysis came back most of the hits I got from BLAST were uncultured bacteria results. Therefore, I believe that this was the reason why Micrococcus Luteus was the closest bacteria found to my unknown sample.

For Gideon we used many different experiments to observe how the unknown bacteria react to selective and differential media test. Depending on the results we obtained while we exposed our unknown bacteria to these different conditions we could begin to narrow down the possibilities of what our bacteria could be. This was done by observing the results from each test, interpreting them as best as we could, and inputting our results into the Gideon website. However, the overall experiment is exposed to many susceptibilities that could easily change the result of our experiment. Some of these susceptibilities could be as vague as interpretation. Just like we observed while completing our Biochemical tests not every result was as clear as others. Therefore, if we misinterpreted the final results from an individual biochemical test this could easily result in the
