Evaluation a one to one conversation

In pairs we was told to act out a role play, my discussion was about a patient visiting her General Practitioner because she wasn’t feeling well. While we were having our one to one discussion we were being observed by another member of the class. The communication skills I had used effectively are my listening skills when the GP was asking me questions about what was wrong with me I was paying attention and I looked as if I was taking interest in what the GP had to say, I was responding clearly, the questions that were asked I responded to were understood and answered well.

I was set a task to have a one to one conversation with someone that relates to health and social care department or even anything that includes a one to one conversation. The role play was set in a doctor’s surgery. My partner’s role was the GP and my role was to come into the reception as a patient suffering from knee pain and I wasn’t feeling well. While we were having our one to one discussion we were being observed by another member of the class.

However I could improve this by keeping my laughter in control. As this was one of the main points to improve this is what I would need to pay attention to more if I was to do this role play again. Also another point even though we started laughing we didn’t get out of role we carried the play on. I made a slight mistake by giggling that was handled okay by me and my partner laughing it off and quickly taking our places and finishing of the role play.

I think the time keeping was a bit slow at first but gradually built up and it was fine. I had also used a few pieces of equipment such as; a pen that was used for the doctor to tap my knee to see if it’s okay, computer to find the records of the patient.

I had a very clear tone; my GP was able to understand what I said without any problems. While speaking my pace was at normal
