Dystopian society is a very negative place where you are watched on your every move and you are controlled. You have no freedom at any point in life and you live in a place with poverty and starvation. The dystopian society links very well to District 12 in ‘The Hunger Games’ because their negative features are very similar to each other.
Suzanne Collins is the author of ‘The Hunger Games’ which was published in 2008. Collins was born on August 10, 1962 in Hartford, Connecticut. She is the daughter of a U.S. Air Force officer who served in the Vietnam War. As the daughter of a military officer, she and her family were constantly moving. She spent her childhood in the eastern U.S. She attended high school at Carver High School in Alabama and at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, where she was a Theatre Arts major. She graduated from Indiana University with a double major in Drama and Telecommunications. The Hunger Games was partly inspired by the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. Another inspiration was her father's career in the Air Force, which allowed her to have better understanding of poverty, starvation, and the effects of war.
Katniss was born in district 12, a poor, outer district which she has been adapted to. She has to hunt food for her, her little sister and their mother because their father is no longer with them. Katniss protects her little sister, Prim, in every possible way because she loves her very much and knows that she is not old enough to look
