Being a British General during World War 2 meant leaving my family, home, and happy life behind. This is the story of my struggle that separated me from my family. Many causes lead to the destruction of my beautiful homeland, but all descended from the Treaty of Versailles and the horrible acts of Adolf Hitler in Germany against the Jews. The treaty was signed between Britain (my holy land), Italy, France and the United States of America on June 28, 1919. Lloyd George, a good friend of mine, was part of this discussion. All of the negotiators insisted on one thing, that the Germans should accept the blame for World War 1 and they should also pay 6,600 million dollars for all the damage caused by the Germans. Adolf Hitler reacted to this immediately; he begun secretly building up Germany’s army and weapons. Although we knew about this, we were concerned about the rise of Communism and believed that a stronger Germany might help to prevent the spread of Communism to the West. While this was happening, Hitler invaded Poland. This move of Hitler’s was intolerable. We declared war on Germany. After conquering Poland the Germans attacked France. France fell in June, 1940, and soon the Nazi overran most of the rest of Europe and North Africa. Only Britain was not defeated. Following this, Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in the United States. While the Japanese armies rolled over Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and the
East Indians. The turning point in this War in the Pacific came in June, 1942, at the Battle of Midway. In a four day battle the U.S. destroyed hundreds of Japanese planes and regained control over the Pacific. Since, the Japanese fought on even after the war ended in Europe, Truman, the U.S. President decided to use the newly developed atomic bomb to end the war quickly and prevent more U.S. casualties. The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945, killing about 78,000 people and injuring 100,000 more. On August 9, a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan, killing
A competition is neither bias nor is it judgmental. It treats everyone the same, and has one universal language that anyone can learn. It works around the language barrier, and it does not belong to one culture or being. It brings people together through the subjective experiences and same struggles that everyone faces in a competition. During the Olympics, countries from all around the world gather to compete, setting aside each other’s differences and forming unity. “SeedFolks” is about a broken…
Polarity results from the uneven partial charge distribution between various atoms in a compound. Atoms, such as nitrogen, oxygen, and halogens, that are more electronegative have a tendency to have partial negative charges. Atoms, such as carbon and hydrogen, have a tendency to be more neutral or have partial positive charges. Electrons in a polar covalent bond are unequally shared between the two bonded atoms, which results in partial positive and negative charges. The separation of the partial…

Any diplomatic efforts in the DRC will have to contend with a long legacy of failure. During my visit to Congo, I witnessed evidence of a few of these failures. One of the most obvious was the presence of a large peacekeeping force that lacks the ability or even the interest to fulfill its mission. With its nearly nineteen thousand troops, MONUSCO is an especially painful reminder of the inherent shortcomings of the present UN peacekeeping model that the “intervention brigade” will have to overcome…
