In this essay, I will be comparing two different hero in separate communities based on their personality and societies. Jonas, our main character and hero, is the most well developed in the plot and Confucius is the philosopher, who had the significant influence in china as a teacher and as minor government ruler. In the above passages I am going to point what kind of personality that cause them to become a hero?

Jonas, our main character and hero, is extraordinary for a twelve-year-old guy. His concept of life is different from the people around him. He is careful, selfless, mature and caring person. He knows how to treat and show respect to the people around him. he is capable of enduring the pain that was from receiving memories from The Giver without complaining. He is the only person that want to change the his community. In fact he is not happy with people attitude, because they don’t know the fact that Jonas knows. Jonas is able to see the color that is an unique ability in the community, because the people around him are colorblind. He is the man who can take a risk and break the rules even if it costs him his life, in order to achieve freedom.

The community that he uses to live, life is safe, predictable and orderly. There are no love , no hunger and no pain. The people in the community do not fall in love, or do not feel happy, on the other hand they do not feel any negative aspect either. Every aspect of person’s life is strictly planned. People cannot make decision by themselves. Everyone should be careful not t say anything that may discomfort others. Husband and wives are matched by elders not by themselves. Therefore, in Jonas community, people have no power to do whatever they want. Confucius, a man whose influence is still alive, played a crucial role in his society.
