The Government Should Prohibit Using the Cell phone While Driving.
Do you use the cell phone anywhere, at any time? Even when you are driving? The cell phone is an implement that has changed the world in this decade. Although it has so many benefits, we need to be careful when and where we use it. Using the cell phone while driving is one of the most important causes of fatal crashes or other car accidents. To decrease it, the government should prohibit the use of cell phones while driving to raise people’s awareness that this is a really bad habit. If the laws don’t forbid it, people will continue talking on the phone while driving every day.
Most people believe that the use of the cell phone while driving cannot be dangerous, so no one is taking action to prevent it. Therefore there are more and more accidents every day caused by distracted drivers on cell phones. Cell phones can distract you while you are driving. To support this claim, according to a Pew survey, forty percent of all American teens say they have been in a car when the driver used a cell phone in a way that put people in danger. It means that at this time, most people are familiar with the kind of danger that it could be. If we need time to use the cell phone, why don’t people think about stopping to use it while driving and have a better and safer travel?
It is important to clarify that texting is one of the main reasons why we use the cell phone while driving, and therefore, this is one of the most prevalent causes of accidents. As evidence of this, The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found that text messaging creates a crash 23 times worse than driving while not distracted. It is important to concentrate when driving. I can affirm that most young people and adults use the cellphone while driving, but young drivers are those who have more accidents because of this. Eleven percent of drivers who are between the ages of 18 to 20 who were involved in an automobile accident and survived have admitted that they were either sending or receiving texts when they crashed. Even though it looks like just a small percent of accidents, it continues growing.
