The business environment
The two businesses that I have picked are McDonalds and the Derby Royal Hospital. McDonalds has an aim for their business which is to become their customer’s favourite place and way to eat and drink by serving core favourites such as their world famous fries, big mac, quarter pounder and chicken mcnuggets. McDonalds serve over 70 million customers in over 100 countries each day. This shows how well their business is working for them as they have many branches worldwide and have so many people who enjoy eating their food. In England, Derby, McDonald have competition around them very much as there are other places called ‘KFC’ and ‘Pizza Hut’ which are highly in competition with McDonalds as they are the main local businesses around to compete with. Being an old customer to McDonald’s; as a personal opinion McDonalds has made quite a lot of profit; and as I have mentioned before that they have many branches worldwide and are making profit from them branches as well. This is a fact that there are approximately 85.000 people who are employed by McDonalds worldwide.
A hospital is a health care institution providing patient treatment with specialised staff and equipment. The best-known type of hospital is the general hospital, which has an emergency department. A district hospital typically is the major health care facility in its region, with large numbers of beds for intensive care and long-term care. But you can also get hospitals 3which are local to you or they may even also be called a surgery or a walk in centre. Usually in these types of place they don’t do any major operation for this they send you to bigger hospital; in these places they usually just give you a check-up and plaster you if you need it for a broken leg/arm. They provide you with medicine and many walk-in centres have a pharmacy there for you to be able to buy the medicine but with some walk-in centres you have to go elsewhere to buy medicine.
Organisational structure for McDonalds

The organisational structure for McDonald’s begins with the director who has control over everyone who is working in his/her business. The people who he conveys his messages through to the rest of the staff is PA/secretory, quality assurance manager, senior trade manager, senior IT manager, research manager. The secretary does all the jobs for the main owner of the business and then conveys all the messages to the rest of the staff and also she/he notifies the owner of the company if there are any important or not so important meetings for him to attend. The quality assurance checks that all the food that is being cooked and brought in to the company it is of good quality and is worth eating; and also so that they can make sure that it is food that would make their customers happy and want to come back again. The senior trade manager keeps a check on all the other companies that are in competition with McDonald’s and makes sure that they can try to stay top to the best of their ability. The senior IT manager checks that all the machines and electrical things are working well and makes sure that the staff that are n his department are working to the best of their ability and also directs them to check certain machinery when needed. The research manager check that all of the other McDonald’s companies are also working at the same pace and that they are getting the same amount or more customers in every branch. The senior trade manager take charge of the trial manager who takes care of all the trainees and help them work to the best of their ability. The trial manager also takes charge over the data co-ordinators and the data clerk. The data co-ordinator check that everything is stored in the systems correctly and also keeps checking on everything regularly. The data clerk would give any important files and important information needed to the trial managers who make sure that all the jobs that are being undertaken by staff and trainee staff
