Anne Frank A Lesson of Personal Integrity – Summer Magliochetti
1. The problems that occurred in Germany between WWI and WWII were that Germany was in an economic downfall between WWI and WWII. The Germans had to pay the reparations to France, England and all of the other allied powers.
2. The Nazi Party started by The German Workers' Party, the forerunner of the Nazi Party. Adolf Hitler joined this small political party in 1919 and rose to leadership through his emotional and captivating speeches. He encouraged national pride, militarism. He changed the name of the party to the National Socialist German Workers' Party, called for short, the Nazi Party (or NSDAP).
3. The leader of the Nazi Party was Adolf Hitler.
4. The book that the leader wrote in prison was Mein Kampf, which was published in 1925.
5.The book outlined that detailed Hitler's radical ideas of German nationalism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Bolshevism.
6. The rights that the Nazis’ took away from the Jews were that Jews were no longer allowed to enter cinemas, theaters, swimming pools, and resorts. The publishing of Jewish newspapers was suspended. Jews were required to carry identification cards and to wear Star of David badges. Nazis burned synagogues and vandalized Jewish businesses. Jewish children were barred from schools. Curfews restricted Jews' time of travel and Jews were banned from public places.
7. The Jews were persecuted and restricted by being swept by Jewish ghettos in Eastern Europe. Then to, mobile squads killed millions. The next step was to send Jews to concentration and death camps. About six million died for one reason: they were Jewish.
8. The Nazi Party leader’s “final Solution” was to execute all Jewish people in Europe.
9. Miep had no hesitation when it came to helping hide the frank family.
10. Miep took the responsibility of hiding the frank family because the frank family was a good family to her.
11. Miep was able to get food for the frank family by having to buy food in the "black" market, and her husband Jan also helped by providing her with so-called ration cards he had obtained illegally. She also knew suppliers, like for instance the greengrocer, who understood what she was doing and would help as much as he could.
12. The life for Margot, Anne, and Peter in the attic was that life for them being so young was hard. They could never go out to play and meet with friends. They could not do any sports, go to the beach, walk through the forests, or do any shopping.
13. Miep said that she had never found out how the Nazis found the attic that the Frank’s were hiding in.
14. Some of the horrible things in miep’s mind was that she thought that the most horrible thing was that they were discriminating against those people that could not help or change their religion.
15. Her most vivid memory of Otto is the day that he learned about the death of his two children, and her giving Anne's diary to him at that very sad moment.
16. The usual places to hide instead of the Secret Annex were the attics of homes. Others stayed in the woods or in sheds.
17. The message that young people of today should pass on about Anne’s story is to stop prejudice and discrimination right at its beginning.
18.The type of person Anne Frank was to Miep was that she describes Anne as an ordinary, normal young girl before she went into hiding. She saw her as a friendly, cheerful, fun-loving, and somewhat loud girl.
19. Most of the time when Anne would write in her diary would be in her bedroom.
20. Anne and Margot went first to a transit-camp called Westerbork in the Netherlands. From there they went to Auschwitz and finally to Bergen-Belsen, where they both died.
