Introduction In search of what situational leadership style would fit me better, I completed the Situational Leadership Style Self-Assessment provided on line and adapted from Hersey and Blanchard. This paper will assess the results of this self-assessment and study its application on a given case study. In the process, I will be discussing if I agree or not with the results and I will be identifying my preferred situational leadership style. In the end, I will be providing the cons and pros in using situational leadership and how they will affect my personal leadership style. Why analyzing and go through all the aforementioned items?

Listening is vital to the successful of the new initiative; what are the concerns? What seems to be the most challenging in the process? What’s the overall vibe? Etc. The norms and the usual are usually the comfort zone and the secure place for most of the people; the staff needs to be assured that they will get the support and the appropriate advice and recommendations. It might a good idea to pilot the assessment till we feel comfortable with the curriculum, or we might observe and collect data on the connection between students’ classroom readiness and the use of their daily planners and taking notes skills. The point is that we need to take the first step and build confidence and sense of achievement and competency among all. If I would follow S3 quadrant in solving the challenge at hand, being “low task focus and high relationship focus” wouldn’t work the way I perceive it as the goal at the end is to change and to flip students’ score to the plus side. There will be, however, non-cooperative members in the equation, those who no matter what you do or say, they will stay passive and sometimes negative. Hence, eliminating negativity from the resistant or non-cooperative members, either by changing their job descriptions or letting them go, is what I would do differently outside the commendations in my preferred leadership style.
