My interest in reproductive science (prenatal/maternity) began at an early age, by helping my older cousins and aunts with the care of their newborns. As I grew older, my career goal was to become a pediatrician or an obstetrician, so that I could attend to mothers and babies before, during and aftercare to assure a healthy wellbeing. Currently, my academic curriculum at Carver H.S. of Engineering and Science, I am one of 20 students (class of 2013) in a concentrated medical program. First, it is due to my career goal towards the medical field. Second, it is due to my academic excellence overall, especially, in the chemistry and math. During 9th grade, I had two great opportunities to aspire me. One was Temple University’s Honor Society for Humanities, in which traveled on an 8-day pilgrimage to New Orleans, LA. I assisted in the rehabilitation of the Ninth Ward, after the destruction of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. That was during Spring break, l kept my ‘perfect attendance’, even though I returned two days after the break, because I wrote a journal of my trip (with pictures) to my school and received recognition. After that, I was selected to attend a day trip on your campus, where I visited the maturity/neonatal wards and observe first-hand patient care. Last year, during 10th grade, I was selected to attend a daylong orientation at The Philadelphia Cancer Treatment of America.
