Recruitment and Selection methods
According the text, “Recruitment is a business, and it is big business. It demands serious attention from management because any business strategy will falter without the talent to execute it” (Cascio, 2010). Choosing the right candidate is crucial to the success of any organization moreover choosing the most effective and timely recruiting and selection method is equally important. There are many methods out there and all have their advantages and disadvantages, but what is really important is the end result, and it is not uncommon for an organization to utilize all of them to establish a pool of qualified candidates to get what they want. Some are internal and others are external methods.
On line recruiting for example is one of those methods. Online recruiting is where recruiting teams for organizations use the internet to search for, locate and fill their vacant positions. Considering the outcome of internal job analysis, HR can start by posting an ad or several ads on internet sites such as LinkedIn, Craigslist, Internet job boards, or even on the company website. The internet provides the recruiting team with an array of benefits, such as a large pool of potential candidates, immediate accessible of information to anyone with a computer, specific or direct targeting of available jobs, and elimination of piles and piles of paperwork. The internet also makes it possible for the advertisement not only to be local, but nationwide and even worldwide.
