I have been interested in reading my entire life. My mom always read to me when I was a kid. She wanted me to become interested in reading at a young age. One of my favorite stories was from when I was a toddler. My favorite book was “Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See?” My mom read it to me almost every night before to bed. At that point in my life I still didn’t know how to read but I knew the story by heart. I took the book from my mom and pretended to read it out loud to her even though I was just reciting it off the top of my head. She quickly realized that I wasn’t reading because I was actually holding the book upside down. That being said, I started reading at a very young age. I fell in love with reading and I became engrossed in most of the books I read. Growing up I would love to read series’ of books. Some of my favorites were Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Pendragon and Ranger’s Apprentice. However, my favorite by far was the Eragon series. The way that it was written I literally felt like I was a part of the action. The person most responsible for my love and interest in reading is my mother. She made me join a club at my school called Battle of the Books. It was basically a club where you read as many books as you could from a list and then you compete against other school in competitions. Your group was asked multiple questions about books from the list and you had to present answers quickly to earn points. I was always good at this and I eventually grew to enjoy it. I continued reading for fun throughout my high school years and I have recently switched to reading more practical books that will help me in the future. I have read books about business (my intended major), money and entrepreneurship. I find these interesting because I know I can learn a lot from them. I don’t think that I will ever give up reading for fun. I would definitely say it is one of my hobbies that I will carry well into adulthood.
Despite my love of reading, English has not always come easy to me. I have always
