From the short story "On The Sidewalk Bleeding", what is the internal conflict (Andy), i understand that there is an internal conflict but im not quite sure how to explain what the internal conflict is... also what is a good example and definition of "objective" (literature wise)??
THANKSS hopefully i'll find the answer to this question The basis of the plot revolves around a boy called Andy who is stabbed by a rival gang. He is left alone to die as he watches different people pass him by and leave him unaided. The conflict is how he deals with the sense of helplessness he feels and the knowledge that he is going to die. There is also the conflict of his self-identity as a gang member versus as a human being.
Andy is just 16-years-old, and yet he belongs to a gang, ‘The Royals’. His self-image is one of toughness. But as death comes nearer, he becomes more emotional. He decides that he wants to die as a human being and not a facade he has acquired. And for the first time, he seems to become aware of how he cares about his girlfriend.
His conflict comes from the fact that there are three times he could have been helped/rescued.
The first comes in the form of a drunk man who seems to not even notice Andy’s predicament. "What’s the matter Buddy?" - this falls in with the theme of the world passing him by, not really noticing Andy. He is disappointed again when the man leaves, still oblivious to what is going on, "S’long Buddy."
Not long after, Andy watches a

off my back. The walk to the bus stop clears my head as the cold air nips at my thin sweater giving me chills all over.
