There are two of the newest technologies that are used in law enforcement that I will be talking about and they are the federal bureau of investigation (FBI) and U. S. marshals. The FBI is an investigative agency with jurisdiction over all law enforcement matters in which the Unites States is or may be an interested party. The U. S. Marshals is the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency. The FBI offers a number of important services to local law enforcement agencies. The FBI originated from a force of special agents created in 1908 by Attorney General Charles Bonaparte during the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt. The two men first met when they both spoke at a meeting of the Baltimore Civil Service Reform Association. Roosevelt, then Civil Service commissioner, boasted of his reforms in federal law enforcement. When the Bureau was established, there were few federal crimes. The Bureau of Investigation primarily investigated violations of laws involving national banking, bankruptcy, naturalization, antitrust, peonage, and land fraud. Because the early Bureau provided no formal training, previous law enforcement experience or a background in the law was considered desirable. The numbers of FBI agents were increased to 6200 and the bureau got more money as a consequence of the Korean War. The FBI was instrumental in diminishing communist Party influence in the USA. The FBI’s jurisdiction continued to grow through its assistance to state and local law enforcement agencies. In 1950 it started the 10 most wanted fugitives” list that increased the capability of the FBI to capture criminals. The FBI mission has been evolving to keep peace with world events The United States Marshals Service (USMS) is a United States federal law enforcement agency within the United States Department of Justice (see 28 U.S.C. § 561). The office of U.S. Marshal is the oldest federal law enforcement office in the United States though second to the U.S. Customs Service as the oldest federal agency (July 1789); it was created by the Judiciary Act of 1789. It
