In the first couple of weeks of beginning pregnant you don’t really know you’re pregnant. It’s not until week 5 when you miss your period you really start to think you’re pregnant.
Anyway, nothing starts to happen within the first 2 weeks, it is week 3 when it moves along the fallopian tube into the uterus. Over a 100 cells becomes the embryo which it attaches its self to the uterus lining, this is called implantation. The heart slowly is starting to form as well as the blood vessels too; theses both connect to the new umbilical cord.
At week 4 to 5 the embryo is now 5mm. The outer cells start to reach out to the roots of the link which provides the embryo with a blood supply. The inner cells form three layers altogether, however it only has two layers to start with and after further development layer three is formed. Layer one is the brain, nervous system, skin, eyes and ears. Layer two is the lungs, stomach and guts. Layer three is the heart blood muscles and bones.

At weeks 6 to 7 is the stage that most people realise that they are actually pregnant. The embryo is usually 8mm head to toe and the heart should be beginning to beat. Both the heart and brain are developing, while the skin is thickening at where the eyes and ears are going to be. At week 7 the embryo slightly increases to 10 mm head to toe. This measurement is called the ‘crown-rump length’.

At weeks 8 to 9 the face of the baby will be slowly forming. A tongue would have formed in the fetus
