TDA 2.1. Child and young person development

1.1 Describe the expected pattern of children and young peoples development from birth to 19 years, to include physical development

communication and intellectual development

social, emotional and behavioural development

The expected pattern of children and young people's development from birth to 19 years is in three stages, physical, intellectual and emotional.
The physical development of children begins to change as they get older. He or she lose their body shape and begins to look like a small adult. Physical Development 0 - 3 years From the age of 0 - 3 years new born babies have little control over their bodies . They gradually start to develop a series of movements and actions called the gross motor skills such as pointing , grabbing ,crawling , sitting. At this stage they will develop hand eye co-ordination This will then slowly turn into the child pulling itself up and eventually walking. Social, emotional and behavioural development 0 - 3 years From birth a baby can respond to touch and sound and they will begin to recognise their parents voices and they will begin to notice bright objects and colours around them. At around the age of 6 months they will begin to feel distress if their parent or a familiar adult walks out of the room.

When a child reaches 1 year the temper tantrums have usually started . They don't know how to share and develop a dislike for the word no. Communication and intellectual development 0 - 3 years

From birth children know when they are hungry or uncomfortable therefore the way they get their parents attention is by crying very loudly. They can begin to notice bright colours and start to recognise their parents and other familiar voices. From about 6 months old a child should be start to understand things like clap hands. At around one year old a child is a lot more aware of objects such as toys and know how to drop a toy and look for were it has gone. At the stage now a child should be making noises and as they near the age of 3 they should be able to count to 10.

Physical Development 3 - 10 years From the age of 3 - 10 years they will have more confidence and more control. They will be more steady on their feet and also have more control over their fine motor skills. They will be refining their skills such as cutting, writing and drawing. Social, emotional and behavioural development 3 - 10 years

At the age of 3 children should have started school. They will be a lot more independent but still seek comfort and reassurance, they should also mow understand the differnece between right and wrong. As they reach the age of 4 to 7 they will have established friendships and are able to form their own little group of friends . From the age of 7 years to 10 they are now much more confident and have more independence from their parents. Communication and intellectual development 3 - 10 years

A child at the age of 3 a child will begin to know the different parts of their body and name them. They will also be able to name animals. They are now more independent and are more confident and can now ask for what they want. As the child gets older they will be able to give you their name, address and even tell you when their birthday is.

Physical development 11 - 19 years Children at age 11 - 19 years will continue to develop their skills and gain more confidence. Girls usually start puberty from the age of 10 - 11 years. Puberty usually starts later in
