Philosopher Confucius once said “When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” As I’ve become older, the mindset I have acquired has led me through the accurate path in order to prosper in the Broadcasting News Program. The academic courses I have chosen enhanced my learning in many ways. As I began high school, the advanced broadcasting communications program they offer caught my attention and I knew that’s where I wanted to start. When I first took part of the course I was overwhelmed but as soon as I got in front of the camera everything around me didn’t matter. The chattering among others suddenly became fuzz, my focus and determination to deliver a great news cast took over and I was in control. I have to admit I was as nervous as can be but once I got started nothing got in my way. Along the line I was taught to edit, record music videos and report on the schools athletics department. After I completed two years in the course I was finally eligible to compete in the Skills USA Broadcasting competition. My team and I were the run of the mill when compared to other teams however that only inspired us to to do our best and take the win. Four weeks later when the scores were in, we were glad to know we made it to regionals. The preparation was long and hard working, mornings and afternoons spent in the studio, writing stories, creating our script from scratch, from intros to chemistry’s among the anchors, we did it all. When we got to regionals we were more than ready and our drive took us all the way to state. Unfortunately our journey ended as one of our team members could no longer compete with us. Yes, I was bummed out my chances were cut short but sometimes sacrifices have to be made.
As the year went on I took part in the KBSD program which involved recording at football games to air live on channel 17. I completed twenty hours during football season working behind the camera and
