1] Explain reality shock: ____
Part 1: The importance of occupational expectations can be seen clearly in the transition from school to the workplace (Moen & Roehling, 2005). The 21st-century workplace is not one in which hard work and long hours necessarily lead to a stable career. It can also be a place where you experience reality shock, a situation in which what you learn in the classroom does not always transfer directly into the “real world” and does not represent all that you need to know.

Part 2: p.425

Part3: Finding out the knowledge you have obtained in a clinical setting doesn’t necessarily apply in a social setting. Things don’t happen as one has imagined or thought. Many professions such as nursing or teaching try to prepare students for reality shock by teaching them to expect the unexpected.

2] Explain Menopausal Hormone Therapy: ___
In response to these increased risks and to the estrogen related symptoms that women experience, one approach is the use of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT): women take low doses of estrogen, which is often combined with progestin (synthetic form of progesterone). Hormone therapy is controversial and has been the focus of many research studies with conflicting results (Bach, 2010; Mayo Clinic, 2010d; Shapiro, 2007). There appear to be both benefits and risks with MHT, as discussed in the What Do You Think? Feature.

In the face of such news many doctors have stopped prescribing hormones to treat menopausal symptoms. Coupled with the increase risk of heart attack and stroke there are definite risks to therapy. MHT should be shelved until further research or a safer option is available.

3] Explain the link between stress & health: ___
A great deal of research has been conducted over the years examining the link between stress and physical health. Being under chronic stress depresses the immune system (resulting in increased susceptibility to viral infections), increases risk of atherosclerosis (buildup of plaque along the walls of the arteries so that the arteries become stiffer and restrict blood flow) and hypertension (high blood pressure), and leads to impaired memory and cognition (McEwen & Gianaros, 2010; Yancura & Aldwin, 2010). However, these aeffects depend on the kind of event, as well as one’s socioeconomic status (Kemeny, 2003; McEwen & Giaranos, 2010). Experiencing negative events tends
