Heroes of the U.S.A.

Everyone says that heroes are people with special powers. A person that can light himself on fire without getting burned, in our eyes, is a hero. Someone that shoots bolts of electricity, or can fly through the night sky, in our eyes, is a hero. They are forgetting about the people who fought in the Civil War, World Wars, Korea, and Iraq. They are forgetting the people who have fought for our rights, our freedom, and our honor. They are forgetting about ordinary men and women accomplishing extraordinary feats.
My uncle was killed in the war serving for us. He was in the Air Force and was shot down by an enemy plane. His plane dived into the ocean and was never found. I loved my uncle, but since his death, I've changed. I've gotten stronger somehow, and I realize that he fought for me and you. He fought for my freedom, and yours.
WWI, WWII, the Korean War and all the others took so many men and women from our great country. It doesn't matter if it was from a bomb, a gun, a knife, or even friendly fire. Each and every one should be honored. They should all be honored for their bravery, strength, and having the will to fight for us.
What about the men and women who survived to come home? Veterans don't have to die to be honored. Those who fought and returned home to their families should make us feel glad, and we owe them the same respect as those who died. Not just a simple "thank you" either, a real show of respect.
