What are the different ways in which we evaluate people?
The different ways in which we as individuals evaluate people is by observing what they are wearing, watching how they may carry themselves and how they talk. When you meet someone it is said that a person gets their first opinion and judges you within the first two seconds of meeting you, although many say this is wrong, we all do it as human beings. Within that first two second they are looking at what you are wearing. Are they dressed like a slob? Are they well groomed? The second thing that we evaluate people on in that first two seconds is how they carry themselves? Meaning, does the individual seem angry, happy, or sad? Does he/she seem violent in any way? This I think when your meeting someone is not because of people being mean, but believe that people automatically do this to keep themselves safe. The third is listening to them talk. When listening to someone talk it gives you an insight to the way a person is. Most people will tell you that they do not evaluate others that are around, I am here to say that it not true. People already within the first two seconds of meeting you will know if they want to continue getting to know you or if they just want to go in the opposite direction.
How do these factors play a role in our expectations of other people?
When it comes to the evaluation that we have done on people we expect them to act a certain way. For example when you see someone who is in a business suit, and very intelligently spoken. You expect him to be a professional and to act in a very civil and professional manner. When this does not happen the way we expect we as individuals are thrown back and question what we were judging on. This is hard since we base so much around us on that evaluation. Let me admit that the professionally dressed person did exist and I will never forget. This person walked into the bank, and just by body language alone you can see that this individual was upset. The individual walked up to one of the tellers and started yelling at the teller incoherently not making any sense. My reaction to this behavior made me almost dumb founded because I automatically thought this individual would be civil sense they seemed to be of the
