Two reasons why the organisation needs to collect HR Data.

1. Legal Obligation.

If a complaint has been received and the company was taken to a tribunal HR would need to have all the relevant data to support their case.

For example, if an employee had been dismissed and they were to claim “Unfair Dismissal” (assuming they had been employed for over 2 years) then evidence gathered from the meetings would need to be provided.

This would also ensure hard facts and figures would be presented with no ambiguity.

2. The collection and update of sickness/absence.

The collection of data for sickness/absence queries allows HR to assist departments on the running of the business. It also identifies any problem areas which need addressing.

It aids monitoring sickness for absence meetings,helps us manage employees more effectively by reducing absences and identifying issues earlier than previously recognised.

At least two types of data that is collected within the organisation and how each supports HR practices.

1. Holiday records:

This data is required to ensure every employee has the right allocation of holidays and keeps a record of holidays they have taken.

This in turn will support HR to provide answers to any employee query about how many days they have remaining.

It helps departments and Managers control when holidays are taken and provides evidence if:

they are taking too much holiday the Manager wants to arrange training the employee needs to attend any meeting assists Managers when allocating holiday ensuring not too many employees are absent at the same time
2. Performance appraisals:

These are collected by HR to support and enable Managers to identify any Learning, Training and Development needs.

With HR keeping training and performance records on employees, this enables management to assess individual productivity and performance.

This will allow the organisation to help the employee reach their full potential which could increase productivity.

It also enables HR to source any skill gaps within the organsiation and provides evidence if the employee seeks any remuneration award.

A description of at least two methods of storing records and the benefits of
