Unit 7 – P2 Describe different concept of health.
There are three concepts of health these are holistic, positive and negative. A person can have one or more concept of health.

A holistic health is the belief that being healthy means being without any physical disorders or diseases and being emotionally uncomfortable, people with this view are likely to label themselves as ill when they experience a wide range of unpleasant feelings, not just physical discomfort or pain. Holistic health is a concept in medical practice upholding that all aspects of people’s needs, psychological, physical and social should be taken into account and seen as a whole. As defined above, the holistic view on treatment is widely accepted in medicine. A different definition, claiming that disease is a result of physical, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental imbalance, is used in alternative medicine.

A positive concept of health is the belief that being healthy is a state achieved by continuous effort. People with this belief take active steps to maintain their health. They will take credit for continued absence from disease and blame themselves if they develop symptoms. Like for example eating healthy diet and avoiding cholesterol foods, fatty foods and salty foods is good to our body and health, because we are preventing ourselves not to feel sick and stay safe. Too much intake of this kind of foods may cause imbalanced to your body that makes you feel unhealthy giving you pain, uncomfortable feelings or discomfort. But to avoid this kind of illnesses you are doing the right way aside of not taking this of foods but you support yourself with proper exercise and correct discipline in order to stay fit and clear with any kind of illnesses. A negative concept of health is the view that being healthy is the absence of illness- not having any symptoms of disease, pain or distress. People with this view are likely to believe that good health is normal and to take it for granted they are well. They
