People communicate in order to form and maintain relationships with others, to give and receive information and instructions, to understand and be understood, to share opinions, knowledge, feelings, and emotions, to give encouragement and show others they are valued. People can communicate through face to face, over the internet by emailing one another, or using mobile phones to text or talk over the phone. There are various apps which enables us further to communicate to loved ones in other countries by Skype or Tango which lets us either record ourselves or have one to one conversation via webcam. Communication is a 2-way process. It is not simply about sending a message, but also about knowing if the receiver has understood and processed the message properly. In face-to-face communication, the person listening may not always indicate verbally if they have understood or if they agree. Observing a person is important so you will have an idea on whether the person is interested in the subject matter, if they are lying to cover a blunder, to see if there is a purpose to the subject you are trying to discuss, to see if they understand, or you're both understanding Also, even if the other person replies verbally his or her body language may show that they have not really understood or agreed. You might not even have been briefed beforehand, and the person you are trying to communicate with is deaf, or mute, you know the person might be in pain and if he is, there is a block to the communication process and you can also determine that by keen observation. If the person is hesitant to answer any questions, or make any comments or questions, he may be showing disagreement or just shy, then you need to coach them into talking. Observation helps understand the effectiveness of communication. This is because Body Language is instinctive and more reliable than verbal communication in many cases.

It is essential that there is good and effective communication taking place within my setting. Daily tasks will only be successful with smooth transfers of information.
