Demonstration
A demonstration is where a coach or athlete demonstrates that skill to the group or individual. Coaches use demonstrations to show a performer how to execute a certain skill. Coaches have to consider the athletes level of proficiency before deciding how to demonstrate the skill. If a player is a beginner then the coach may have sufficient competence to demonstrate the skill, because the athlete’s knowledge is limited. The benefit to the athlete is a clear view of what they should be striving to achieve. If they are elite performers they should be shown a video clip or image as it is likely that the coach’s skill or knowledge may not match that of the performer. A coach must consider certain factors for example the position of the sun or group dynamic, such that no individual is disadvantaged.
Modelling
Modelling is where an elite athlete or coach shows the group or individual the exact technique of what they should be doing. When introducing new skills coaches use modelling to demonstrate exactly what they expect an athlete to achieve. Modelling can take two different forms. It can be shown as a coach or performer demonstration during which the coach will demonstrate a skill. A coach will often model the skill if it has a high risk; an example of this is a rugby tackle because if the technique is not performed correctly it can lead to injury to the athlete, the opposition or training partner. The benefit to the athlete is a clear view of what they should be striving to achieve
A video demonstration can be used to show the key points in the execution of a skill or action, for example in a golf swing. It is possible use visual representation to show where the club should be positioned in relation to the body whilst addressing the ball.
Simulation
Simulation is where a game or activity is created to work on a specific skill. When a skill has been mastered in a non-competitive environment it has to be taken in to game situation. A coach has to create games that give the performer opportunity to demonstrate the technique that has been learnt. a coach can do this by creating games with less defenders or attackers so there is more chance for the athlete to practice the skill. Athletes also train in certain areas if where there from isn't the same climate as the event location. An example of this is small sided games which coaches use to put more attention on a skill. An example of these could be the coach putting fewer defenders in to help the attacker with their decision making.
Glen mills
Glen mills uses his knowledge of the sport to help him with his coaching, this is because he is not at the level of skill as his runners. If glen mills needed to demonstrate or model a specific skill to a less skilled athlete he may use Usain Bolt or Yohan Blake as a model because they are 2 of the best runners in the world this means that there technique is to a high slandered therefore they will be better at showing the technique than glen mills
Glen mills use of simulation within sprinting would be
