Della Lamb Clinical Observations
June 12, 2013 This writer arrived at Della Lamb facility for clinical observation. This writer was not greeted by students as previous days. Students didn’t even seem to notice this writer enter the room. This writer did observe any signs of separation anxiety from children today. All children seemed happy and healthy.
This writer did notice that the children seemed more unfocused than normally observed. The children also voiced that they wanted to go to other classroom and be with other instructors. This writer’s opinion is that the children were unfocused due to the lack of outdoor play time. The staff made a decision that based on the hot climate the students would remain indoors. This writer applauds them on the preventative measures they took in doing so.
This writer took height and weight on all children in the classroom per Della Lamb’s request but only focused charting observations on a two children who will be known as Boy A and Girl A for privacy purposes.
On boy A, this writer observed him eat most all of his breakfast leaving little behind. Lunch and snacks was the same way as far as consumption. Upon measuring height and weight this writer conclude that Boy A weighed 18.6kg and height was 41cm. Based on this information and the boy being age 3, he should have 1,400 kilocalories daily. This writer also observed Girl A focused more on eating fruits, vegetables, and dairy products and not so much on meats. This writer witnessed the girl eat all of her fruit and veggies but just picked at her meat. The girl also only ate about half burrito during breakfast. During lunch she only had her fruit, salad, and just picked at her ravioli. She did eat all of her snacks. This child is 3 years of age, weighs 18.1kg, and height 38cm.
