City of Houston Essay

From the annual Livestock Rodeo to the home of the famous Texans, Houston is definitely the place to be. Although our city is so close to perfect, there are still a few minor and major changes that can be added or tweaked to improve Houston and the lives of Houstonians. One problem that Houston has is the violence occurring and the effect it has on the youth. If I were in the shoes of a city employee or even the mayor, the first thing I would work on is to add more recreational centers for the youth around neighborhoods for them to attend. That would be one way to keep them out of trouble because they would be occupied by being around other children and also doing other different activities including sports and extracurricular activities. It also would be another way for them to focus more on their schoolwork because there would be mentors and tutors there to help them with any questions they have pertaining to school. These recreational centers would attract the youth into attending, but also keep them occupied which would help prevent them from getting into any trouble and stir their minds away from the violence. One major issue that should be approached with full care is and maintenance and appearance of some Houston schools. Administrators and teachers take on a big responsibility every day and that is to make sure that students are safe and are also being educated. Although they are getting paid to do their job, they deserve to be
