Business Summary
Stuart Tutoring offers tutoring services for mainly high school students with select-few middle school students in various subjects. Stuart Tutoring links up with several teaching colleagues, school counselors, and school advisors, in order to provide the best solutions to students who are encountering problems at school. The owner of Stuart Tutoring, Kathy Stuart, will run as the sole proprietor in the first two-three years of its operation, offering services in various locations. Kathy plans on expanding its staff base and incorporating her business as a LLC in later years, once she owns a permanent facility. Starting off as a low profile company, Stuart Tutoring relies heavily on recommendations from connected colleagues and counselors as its key form of promotion in addition to paid ads in the school newspaper. Moreover, Kathy has no intention taking drastic measures to expand her business rapidly. Rather, she plans to build her business slowly in order to conserve financial reserves, which later will be funded on technological advancements, such as online tutorials, webcam technology and etc.
Our group selected this particular company as we find it being relatable to us. Being tutored for most of all our lives, we have developed a deep connection with the business of tutoring. Also, we are astonished by the company’s determination to grow exponentially despite its low-profile. By conducting further research on this company, we will gain a good level of knowledge and understanding using a case study that is relatable to us.

COMPANY SUMMARY
Stuart Tutoring will offer tutoring services primarily for high school students, but also for select middle school students, in a wide range of academic subject. Kathy Stuart is the sole proprietor, but over the next two years, she plans to add staff and incorporate as an LLC. Stuart began tutoring when she was an education major at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. As class sizes in the district where she teaches began to increase and teaching jobs became difficult to find, she decided to increase her income by tutoring students after school and on weekends. She expects to expand her services by offering tutoring over the summer months to keep students' minds engaged in the learning process.
MANAGEMENT SUMMARY
Kathy Stuart is certified to teach kindergarten through eighth grade in an inclusive classroom (all subjects are taught) and recently completed her M.Ed. She also received certification to teach English and social studies at the high school level. She has 12 years of experience teaching upper elementary school, four years teaching high school, and two years teaching community college classes. Stuart has been tutoring on an informal basis since she was in high school and volunteered her time as

a member of National Honor Society to tutor fellow students in all subjects. She has also volunteered as a literacy instructor at a local church, teaching adults to read, and at the Tutoring Tree, working with elementary students. Stuart has created a home-based business, but wants to expand her services to include all subjects. To that end, she plans to add teaching colleagues in math and science to be able to offer fullservice tutoring to students.
