Assumptions & Fallacies

1) Assumptions are conclusions drawn from data obtained. Assumptions are not always fact based, and they are more times likely not to be accurate. Individuals make assumptions all the time. An assumption is the time in which an individual thinks they realize what is going on without looking for far into it. This generally happens when someone just knows some piece of the story, and a majority of times are still wrong in what they think. When we assume we are not checking for reality or factual data, and we have not done any proper research. Individuals will make assumptions around an individual character without getting to know them. Assumptions can interfere and cause a form of discrimination. For example, while taking a test, that we think we will ace so we do not study for it at all, and once the test is in front of us it is completely different content. We made a negative assumption and it will work against us and chances are we will not do as well on the test as we first thought and will more than likely panic and do poorly on the test. Before making assumptions, we need to do the proper research and we do so by asking the proper questions, listening to what the answer is and if things are unclear, ask more questions to clarify any confusion. So the best things to do is think critically and evaluate things being making assumptions. Assumptions are never the best way to make choices.

2) The true definition of the fallacy, found in the Oxford English Dictionary is deceptive and deceives. Fallacies are mistakes of thinking, rather than committing errors that are of a fact based nature. Inclinations are steady and widespread psychological tendencies that might be act mental to equitably and objectively. Being mindful of them can help us maintain a strategic distance from their impact, we may likewise be in a finer position to
