The Drive "All men are created equal; they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights including Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” (Jefferson). These words are printed in ink in the Constitution of the United States; they are the root of the American Dream. As much as the people hope this desire to be easy attainable it is not, it depends on hard work and dedication. Thus, there are numerous challenges blocking the execution these desires. This dream is absolutely obtainable for those who have the guts to everything on the line. President Obama stated in his inaugural address during 2009, “Which is why a man whose father, less than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.” This is the model for visions, the highest order of power given to a man, who could not have achieved this, if not for him pursuing a dream. For those who are free from idiocies and those able to contribute everything they have to get what they want, this American Dream is available. It is tangible for those with the motivation needed to seize the opportunity offered, with the dedication necessary to persevere, and with the high optimism required to continue on the path of success. So during these times of recession, the vision fades but it always finds its way back, because without a goal or aspiration life becomes meaningless, and therefore Americans need this ideal for them to continue to improve on their daily rituals. People under difficult circumstances may not even be able to see this objective. The economic crisis of 2008 was “the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression” (http://www.reuters.com...). It caused a loss of many jobs, consequently leaving families without any income for the base necessities. It is challenging to develop a dream during such dire situations, it’s almost impossible to achieve anything when put under such a stressful environment. Studies show “that we can accelerate our biological age by as many as 17 years by being exposed to be a high psychological stress for prolonged periods of time.” (http://juvenon.com...). To these populations, the dream may just be an incredible story that could never come true. Therefore, the American dream is more than hopes and aspirations, it is an ability of a nation to rise to higher standard and improve for the future
